477,204 road accidents in 2013
Posted on July 10, 2014 by admin in General NewsStatistics provided by the Bukit Aman traffic department show that 477,204 accidents were reported in 2013, compared to 462,423 road accidents in 2012, resulting in 6,915 deaths.
Studies show more than half of the road accidents involved those between ages 18 and 40, and all these road accidents cost more than RM9 billion annually through repairs, insurance and medical bills.
Accordingly to National Road Safety Council member Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, impatience, speeding and weaving in and out of traffic lanes are some of the major contributing factors leading to road accidents.
